Evaluation of Ghosts and the
paranormal documentary
In this evaluation I will be talking about what I did in
this unit, what went well and what did not. In this unit I needed to make a
documentary that was between 3 and 7 minutes long.
Research/Pre Production
The first thing I did was research into how a documentary is
filmed; I watched other documentaries for example “John’s not mad”, I looked
deeper into what codes and conventions were used in this documentary. This made
me think about how to film my documentary and what codes and conventions I
would use. The next thing I did was to think about what I wanted to make a
documentary about; after a lot of thought I came to an idea of making a
documentary based on paranormal beings to try and see if more people believe in
ghosts than not believe in them. I also had to research stories about ghosts
and other people’s paranormal experiences. This research lead me to create a
questionnaire to see if people I know have had any experiences and if so what
were they. But as well as finding people who believed in ghosts I also wanted
to find someone who didn’t to make my documentary a balanced debate type of
documentary.
